The Mandatory Waiting Period

April 11th, 2009 Rich Shea No comments

Many families going through divorce in The Woodlands ask “How soon can my divorce be final?”

Texas divorce law requires a waiting period of 60 days. No Court may grant a divorce before the 60th day after the date the suit for divorce was filed. This does not mean your case is automatically over after 60 days. In many cases, a case may take longer for many reasons, especially if the spouses are not in agreement on the terms of divorce.

Speak with a Woodlands Divorce Lawyer today if you are considering divorce.
